Description:

World Trade Day 2010 prepared businesses for success in the new global economy that will drive economic growth and prosperity in this decade.  Emerging markets like Brazil, China and India are enjoying strong economic growth and leading the recovery from the recent global economic downturn.  These countries and others are developing a rapidly growing middle class with the potential to replace the American consumer as the driving force behind future global economic growth.

Doing business in emerging markets, however, can present significant challenges, especially to small and medium-sized companies, and World Trade Day 2010 breakout sessions provided attendees with the opportunity to hear from experts who shared their knowledge and experience to help navigate the road ahead.  Breakout sessions covered doing business in Brazil, China and India as well as popular the topics of international financing, utilizing social media and other marketing tools in global markets and the booming global market for the Cleantech industry.

At the opening breakfast Don Marostica of the Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade shared his thoughts on Colorado’s role in the global economy and presented the 2010 Governor’s Awards for Excellence in Exporting. Also at breakfast theEconomist Intelligence Unit’s Senior Editor, Leila Butt, provided a timely update on the outlook for various countries and regions of the world as signs of recovery grow stronger.

Our luncheon program will featured Daniel Griswold , Director of Trade Policy Studies with the Cato Institute and author of the popular book, Mad About Trade: Why Main Street America Should Embrace Globalization. Mr. Griswold discussed the many misconceptions and myths surrounding the effects of international trade on the U.S. economy and job market.
