World Trade Center Denver is a business network and services organization dedicated exclusively to the international business success of companies based in Colorado and the surrounding Rocky Mountain region.

Karen Gerwitz – President & CEO

Karen Gerwitz brings 30 years’ experience in international business to the organization in the private, public and non-profit sectors.  Her enthusiastic vision for how Denver can become a more globally-conscious city is what is driving the organization to its new development in the Fox Park neighborhood near downtown.  With business development, strategic growth and marketing as her main functional expertise, Karen has served overseas in Ghana and Austria, and in Colorado in multiple sectors including:  IT, Aerospace, Lumber, Science, Mining, and Government.  Her protocol and international cultural expertise prepared her well to host the official visits of the Emperor and Empress of Japan, the G8 Summit, the Western Hemisphere Ministerial Summit, and hundreds of other delegations. She earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in International Business and her Masters of Public Administration from the University of Colorado.

Sandi Moilanen – V.P. Operations

Sandi Moilanen is the Vice President of Operations at the World Trade Center Denver, where she oversees the daily operations and programs of the organization, helps develop and implement strategic initiatives and looks for new areas of growth. Sandi brings experience in international business development, manufacturing and international trade finance to the position. Prior to joining the WTC, Sandi was the Director of the Colorado International Trade Office, part of the State of Colorado’s Office of Economic Development, where she managed the export promotion and foreign investment attraction activities for the State of Colorado. Before her public sector service, Sandi managed international transactions and overseas production planning for an apparel manufacturer. She helped develop European distribution and managed a network of international dealers. She has experience as a Customs Broker and an international logistics agent.

Karen Moore – Manager of Marketing & Engagement

Karen Moore joined the World Trade Center Denver team in 2020. As the Manager of Marketing & Member Engagement, Karen is responsible for marketing, advertising and communication to strategic partnerships, and member management and engagement. She brings her strong background in marketing and business development to the team. Karen has always had a passion for international business and worked overseas for a short time in Paris. She earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Marketing with a focus on International Business from the University of Colorado.

Tanya Arnt – Director, Trade Institute

Tanya Arnt joined the World Trade Center Denver team in 2020. As the Education Program Coordinator and Project Manager, Tanya is responsible for administering and modernizing education programs at World Trade Center Denver. She is in charge of transferring and converting in-person training to online/virtual, she works with subject matter experts and always on the lookout to adding new and exciting training sessions. She guides students through getting the most of their Certificate of International Trade. She is also a project manager for the two largest conferences – World Trade Day and International Business & U.

Tanya is very passionate about International Business and working globally. Prior to coming to WTC, Tanya managed global conferences and trainings for software as a service companies and nonprofits. And also, she spent five years in China where she worked as an Educator.

Originally from Russia, she holds a Master’s degree in International Relations and working on her MBA with major in International Business at University of Colorado Denver. Multilingual Russian, English, and Chinese speaker with Spanish competency. She has lived in Siberia, China, Ecuador and US.

Jamison Shelton – Program Director, Global Trade Activator

Jamison comes to the World Trade Center Denver with over 20 years of experience in the international ecommerce, business development, operations and on-demand manufacturing space, with a professional portfolio that includes, Yahoo!, VarTec Telecom, Webroot Software, Circle Graphics and CafePress. Jamison has also run a successful consulting practice, helping early-stage companies with their international expansion efforts. Jamison has his Bachelor of Business Administration Degree in Managerial Information Systems (MIS) from the University of Oklahoma.

Amar Alimaa – Program Manager for Immigrant Program, Global Trade Activator 

Amar was born in Mongolia, raised in Poland, Ukraine, and Japan. She is experienced in developing international business from scratch in Ukraine, Poland, Mongolia, Japan, and the United States. Multilingual: Japanese, Russian, Polish, Mongolian, and English.

She has earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in International Business from the Metropolitan State University of Denver. Her role in WTC is to support immigrants to build their international business plan, strategic marketing plan, and obtain financial loans. Amar is passionate about improving the life standard around the world through international business.

Catherine Ceresa – Director of Business Development

Shortly after completing degrees in Cultural Anthropology and Linguistics at Duke University, Catherine began her humanitarian pursuits as a United States Peace Corps Volunteer serving in Thailand. Following her Peace Corps service, she earned two post-graduate degrees from the University of Denver: a Masters Degree in Macro Economic Sustainable Development (Korbel School) and an International Masters of Business Administration (Daniels School) focusing on Corporate Social Responsibility. In 2014, Catherine joined a start-up in California that catered to major electronics manufacturers, where she offered sustainable supply chain solutions to major multi-national corporations. In 2016, she joined as a Risk Manager for the World Wide Sustainability team, where she built their first global Conflict Minerals Program and eWaste Management Program. At Amazon, she co-founded the Circular Economy Team and developed products for Supply Chain Transparency that are currently purchased and implemented by hundreds of major retail brands worldwide. Colorado beckoned her back in 2019, where she joined the WTCD team in 2020, as the Director of Business Development. She is currently helping Rocky Mountain Region companies navigate the challenges of International trade with premium Global Trade Solutions. Allen Espinosa – Global Business Services Manager

Allen is responsible for overseeing the Global Business Services division at the World Trade Center Denver, providing global import, export, market entry and compliance consulting solutions for companies throughout the Rocky Mountain region. He has over 12 years of experience in economic development and tax consulting and has managed corporate growth projects throughout the United States for clients in the manufacturing, energy, life sciences, financial services and corporate headquarters industries, representing over $3 billion of capital investment. His responsibilities included site location analysis, financial modeling, drafting and negotiating complex agreements and documenting compliance for government programs and contracts. Allen began his career at a global consultancy in Tampa, FL and subsequently co-founded the economic development practice at a consultancy in Texas, opening offices in New Orleans and Denver. He has a Master’s degree in International Business from the University of Colorado Denver and both a Juris Doctor and Bachelor’s degree in Finance from Florida State University.


Megan Peiffer, J.D. – Director, Global Trade Activator Immigrant Program 

Megan Peiffer is the Director of our Global Trade Activator – Immigrant Program supporting immigrant entrepreneurs and start-ups, providing customized and trusted guidance to take their business internationally. Megan brings over 15 years of public policy experience in government affairs and public affairs, business development, as well as program development and implementation. Prior to joining the WTC, Megan was the Director of Workforce & Immigration Policy at the Colorado Business Roundtable. Before coming to Colorado, Megan lobbied in the State of Iowa and managed complex client accounts in the development and execution of multifaceted issue advocacy campaigns on behalf of Fortune 50 corporations, and national trade associations and organizations. In addition, Megan is an experienced attorney with corporate counsel experience providing a wide range of legal advice including monitoring legal and regulatory changes and providing guidance on the impact of member operations.
