Karen Gerwitz, CEO and President
Karen Gerwitz joined the World Trade Center Denver in August 2010. She brings 25 years experience in international business and communications to the organization. Ms. Gerwitz recently served as Director of Communications for the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies and Director of Board Relations for the State Board of Education. She was also Manager of Communications for Raytheon in Aurora. Her international experience includes Chief of Protocol for the Colorado International Trade Office, where she planned the official visits of the Emperor and Empress of Japan, the G8 Summit, the Western Hemisphere Ministerial Summit, and hundreds of other delegations. Other international experience includes: Information Office for a science institute in Vienna, Austria; Operations Manager for a sawmill in Ghana, West Africa; Business Development Director for Attache International Marketing; and International Marketing Specialist for UNISYS. She earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in International Business and her Masters of Public Administration from the University of Colorado. She lives in North City Park with her husband, Elie, and serves on several community boards.
Sandi Moilanen, Vice President of Operations
Sandi Moilanen is the Vice President of Operations at the World Trade Center Denver, where she oversees the daily operations and programs of the organization, helps develop and implement strategic initiatives and looks for new areas of growth. She also manages staff development and government relations. Sandi brings experience in international business development, manufacturing and international trade finance to the position. Prior to joining the WTC, Sandi was the Director of the Colorado International Trade Office, part of the State of Colorado’s Office of Economic Development, where she managed the export promotion and foreign investment attraction activities for the State of Colorado. Before her public sector service, Sandi managed international transactions and overseas production planning for London Fog-Pacific Trail, an apparel manufacturer. She helped develop European distribution and managed a network of international dealers. She has experience as a Customs Broker and an international logistics agent. Sandi earned a Masters of Business Administration and a Masters of Science in International Affairs degrees from the University of Colorado at Denver. She has a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Puget Sound in Foreign Languages and International Affairs.
Stephanie Garnica, Director of Business Development
Stephanie Garnica is a motivated, globally minded leader and self-starter with outstanding organizational, problem-solving, resourcefulness and global project management skills combined with a strong sense of integrity, personal accountability and commitment to social responsibility. She is fluent in Spanish and has lived and worked in Spanish speaking countries throughout the Americas. She worked in the logistics industry managing global exports and imports for Fortune 500 companies; worked for the Colorado Office of Economic Development & International Trade managing the state's trade relationship with the Western Hemisphere and managed global initiatives for the Colorado Innovation Network. Having worked in the non-profit, corporate and government sectors and she is well versed on international business practices, cultural nuances, business protocol and event planning and is well connected in the international community.She is a proud mother of three children and raises them to appreciate all things global!
David Russell, Director of Education
David is the Director of Education for the World Trade Center Denver. He is charged with the development and management of the Rocky Mountain World Trade Center Institute’s international business skills training program, special projects, and other educational programming. David graduated from Auburn University with a Bachelors of Science in Economics and from the University of North Carolina School of Law. Before coming to the World Trade Center Denver, he worked as an export analyst for an international beverage company.
Anthony Russo, Director of Trade Services
President of TradeHub International, Anthony Russo, is a graduate from Charleston Southern University with a BA in Marketing and MBA in Business Administration. He has spent over ten years working in global business, helping companies establish sourcing and sales relationships around the world. He has held the title of Director of Trade Services for the World Trade Centers Association, Education and Trade Services Manager for the South Carolina World Trade Center and President of THI Mexico. Mr. Russo has offered keynote addresses, seminar series and specialized training around the world for chambers, universities and government agencies. He is considered a subject matter expert in International Trade and Small Business Development.
Karen Warsh, Trade Specialist
Karen joined the World Trade Center Denver team in March 2017. As the Trade Specialist, her duties vary to include anything that will help our members enhance their businesses in any market. Karen graduated from the University of Arizona with Bachelors of Science degrees in Marketing, Global Business and Chinese, and is currently an MBA and MS International Business candidate at the University of Colorado Denver. She has lived and worked in four countries and traveled to over 50.
