    This course will provide you with a comprehensive explanation of how to make a NAFTA qualification determination by using the NAFTA Rules of Origin and applying the Customs concepts of classification, valuation and country of origin. You will also learn how to prepare the NAFTA Certificate of Origin. Real-world examples will make the concepts come to life. In addition, you will receive an overview of NAFTA Verifications, discuss preparation of letters in response to NAFTA solicitations from your customers and learn about basic NAFTA enforcement.

He wrote a book about opening the first ad agency in the USSR, Moscow Meets Madison Avenue, The Adventures of the First American Adman in the USSR (HarperCollins 1995).

    Jacqui is currently President of Beckett Ethics & Compliance International, a global company helping companies create and implement compliance and ethics program which work around the world.  As part of her business, Jacqui is bringing practical program implementation advice to companies in need.  She also currently serves as compliance adviser to companies for the World Bank and Asian Development Bank, assisted in the World Econimic Forum's Partnering Against Corruption Initiative (PACI) update the PACI principals, and is technical adviser for PACI on initiatives such as Foundations in Transparency in India.


    Prior to Launching Beckett Ethics & Compliance International, Jacqui was with Newmont Mining Corporation, a publicly-traded global hard rock mining company for over eleven years, and CenturyLink, a telecommunications company.  Prior to her corporate work, she practiced law with two law firms and clerked for two United States federal judges.  She has authored numerous articles and lectured on ethics, compliance, and practical global program implementation at numerous seminars.


    Jacqui eraned a bachelor's degree in 1988 from Duke University, where she studied political science and comparative area studies, a cross disciplinary major where she compared cultures and people's activities in different parts of the world.  In 1993, she earned her J.D. from Georgetown University.

    Course Description
    This course covers how importers and exporters identify financial risks and use the appropriate method of payment including: letters of credit, cash in advance, documentary collection, and open account. Various economic risks such as exchange rate fluctuations are also discussed.

    This course introduces you to the basics of Letters of Credit; review the purpose and function of the UCP 600 rules; instruct the buyer how to issue an L/C; know what a confirmed L/C is; understand what assignments, transfers, time drafts, and standby L/Cs are; learn how to reduce the most common discrepancies in documents. In addition, discover six tips for reducing the costs of L/Cs and understand which payment terms work best with each Incoterm.

    Guest instructors include Bryson Patterson, U.S. Small Business Administration, who will discuss export financing available through government programs; and a representative from Euler Hermes, who will discuss credit insurance programs available to mitigate risk associated with foreign accounts receivable.

    The right contract is the best way to protect yourself when your business crosses borders.  Learn how to use this important tool with local attorney, Tyler Rauert as he explains the types of contracts in international business, common clauses and the law that controls them.

    Tyler is Of Counsel at Messner Reeves, where he has become a predominant international business attorney in the Front Rage.  He also serves as an Adjunct Professor at Denver University's Korbel School of International Studies and as Chairman for Denver Sister Cities International.  Prior to relocating to Denver, Tyler spent many years teaching at the National Defense University within the Near East South Asia Center for Strategic Studies.

    Join the World Trade Center Denver and the Colorado Department of Agriculture as we lead a delegation of Colorado businesses to the Republic of Cuba. This 4-night trade mission takes place November 12th-16th, 2017 centered in Havana, Cuba.


    Our business delegation will be selected to represent our state’s technology, medical device, infrastructure and environmental sectors as new commercial ties emerge between our two nations. Agriculture Commissioner Don Brown will lead the agricultural delegation, showcasing one of Colorado’s key industries.
