World Trade Center Denver is a business network and services organization dedicated exclusively to the international business success of companies based in Colorado and the surrounding Rocky Mountain region.
No need to call New York or fly to Chicago, you get face-to-face access to world-class global resources right here in your own backyard. Our sole purpose is to help local companies succeed internationally. Global commerce isn’t just one of the things we do, it’s the only thing we do.

With one million members and over 300 trade centers in 100 countries, this is a network that opens doors around the world. Karen Gerwitz – President & CEO
Karen Gerwitz brings 30 years’ experience in international business to the organization in the private, public and non-profit sectors. Her enthusiastic vision for how Denver can become a more globally-conscious city is what is driving the organization to its new development in the RiNo neighborhood near downtown. With business development, strategic growth and marketing as her main functional expertise, Karen has served overseas in Ghana and Austria, and in Colorado in multiple sectors including: IT, Aerospace, Lumber, Science, Mining, and Government. Her protocol and international cultural expertise prepared her well to host the official visits of the Emperor and Empress of Japan, the G8 Summit, the Western Hemisphere Ministerial Summit, and hundreds of other delegations. She earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in International Business and her Masters of Public Administration from the University of Colorado.

Sandi Moilanen – V.P. Operations
Sandi Moilanen is the Vice President of Operations at the World Trade Center Denver, where she oversees the daily operations and programs of the organization, helps develop and implement strategic initiatives and looks for new areas of growth. Sandi brings experience in international business development, manufacturing and international trade finance to the position. Prior to joining the WTC, Sandi was the Director of the Colorado International Trade Office, part of the State of Colorado’s Office of Economic Development, where she managed the export promotion and foreign investment attraction activities for the State of Colorado. Before her public sector service, Sandi managed international transactions and overseas production planning for an apparel manufacturer. She helped develop European distribution and managed a network of international dealers. She has experience as a Customs Broker and an international logistics agent.

Karen Warsh – Director of Marketing & Engagement
Karen joined the World Trade Center Denver team in 2017. As the Director of Marketing & Engagement, her duties vary to include marketing, advertising, communication and promotional activities, strategic partner management, membership management, creating new opportunities to add value for members, and engaging members in all that the organization does. She also manages and coordinates the hundreds of annual events and educational programs at the World Trade Center Denver. Karen graduated from the University of Arizona with Bachelors of Science degrees in Marketing, Global Business, and Chinese, and from the University of Colorado Denver with a Masters of Business Administration (focus in Business Analytics) and a Master’s of Science in International Business. Prior to joining the World Trade Center Denver team, she worked in marketing, event planning and data management. She has lived and worked in four countries and traveled to over 50.

Alex Beim – Director of Business Development
Alex Beim is the Director of Business Development for the World Trade Center Denver. In this role, his main duty is to build relationships with members and non-members alike to better understand the hurdles and nuances in their global business endeavors in order to provide tailored solutions. In addition, his duties entail networking and outreach to the Colorado business community to engage companies and professionals doing international business to step forward and to make their impact on regional and global trade by way of knowledge sharing with the regional international community and the World Trade Center Denver network. Alex graduated from Kansas State University with a Bachelors in Spanish and Business Administration. Before joining the team at the World Trade Center Denver, he worked in freight brokerage, import/export, freight SaaS systems, and anti-corruption anti-bribery due diligence solutions.

Katie Pagano – Education Coordinator and Executive Assistant
Katie joined the World Trade Center Denver team in October 2018 after spending 10 years in secondary education. She graduated from the University of Missouri, St. Louis with a Bachelor of Science in Education and obtained her Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of New Orleans. Katie has a passion for adult learning and operations, and she was known for her innovative flipped classroom during her teaching and graduate studies. In her role, she helps administer and modernize the educational programs and manages the core functions of the office providing support to the executive team.

Martín Vieiro – Global Business Services Program Manager
Martín works with the Rocky Mountain business community to identify market expansion opportunities, capture tax and duty cost savings, and adopt best practices for import and export compliance. Martín has worked on a wide range of international trade, tax, and investment regulatory and policy issues, and he is a firm believer in the benefits of open borders. Martín began his career at EY’s Global Trade practice consulting large multinational firms. He was a Research Analyst at the Peterson Institute for International Economics, a leading think tank in DC, where his published works advocated for trade liberalization and tax reform. He was also an Analyst at the Economist Intelligence Unit where he delivered custom research projects for key clients, ranging from major foundations to industry groups. Martín has a bachelor’s degree in International Studies from the University of North Texas, and a master’s degrees from the University of California, San Diego’s School of Global Policy and Strategy. In his free time, he enjoys rock climbing and exploring the Front Range.
